...an environment for learning? Do you put up posters or student work? Do you have inspirational quotes or a reading corner? How have you arranged the desks to maximize learning while minimizing distractions?

In my classroom, I had students in traditional rows, though I always wished I had a kidney table in the back or something similar to break out in group work. My room was on the small side, so if I had seated kids in groups of four no one would be able to walk around. I did have a rug in the back of the room so a small group could work there, but only with adult supervision. I found otherwise they'd mess around. I liked having educational posters on the wall--parts of speech, periodic table, etc.--but I found too much to be too distracting. And we always had to have some student work up, of course! I think that's what inspires student ownership of their learning--seeing the fruits of their (and others') labor.
