How much time do you spend weekly planning lessons?

When I first started, it took me a lot of time. One thing I did, though, was to save my lesson planning books each year. Even if we were on a slightly different pace from year to year, it did help me to go back and see what my students were doing in each lesson. I also saved all handouts--I would just drop the originals (and any extra copies students didn't use) in a hanging folder in my desk, newest stuff to the back. At the end of the month, I put it in my cabinet and started a new hanging folder, so that the next year all of my handouts were pretty much in the order I would need them. By the end, I could get the week's lessons all planned out and ready to go in probably under 30 minutes.
